Paul Boymel, an attorney in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's legal council, states, "Every study has shown that, at least where heavy manual labor is not involved, older workers outperform younger workers as a class, with far less absenteeism, far less hopping from job to job, and better work ethic."
As millions of baby boomers approach their 60's, America is experiencing a major demographic shift. Many of these older citizens will not be able to live off their pension plans and must find work. Others, after working for the last three or four decades, simply can't imagine the rest of their lives without productive work. These people want to be part of a team. How can we accommodate older Americans and discourage age discrimination in the workforce? This website is a new way.
Age and Experience is a hiring website, no different from any employment website or employment agency except there is no charge to either party. We are a non-profit organization supported by our founder's manufacturing company. We have worked hard to design this website so that it requires minimal overhead to operate and maintain. Our intention is to help you hire aging Americans and improve your team like we have without requiring any communication with us.
It's simple. People who need a job just enter their resume information directly into the website. Employers may shop for potential employees, or enter job listings, or both. Then each side communicates with the other directly without us, so we have no need for a costly staff or time-consuming processing. We support the small overhead ourselves because we are grateful that this approach is working so well for our manufacturing company. Even though we could probably qualify for government money available through many sources, we will not accept any taxpayers' money. Indeed, we are out to show the country that the creativity and entrepreneurship of small business can do great work without government help.
This website is only expected to work well for company leaders who are open to new ways of helping our people and our country. Remember, more than half of Americans work for small businesses, so there is great power to change our country here. Small business actually includes companies with up to 50 million in revenues and up to 100 or more employees. We do not expect this approach to work for large public companies run by financial executives in the boardroom. There probably has to be a direct caring connection between top management and employees. Every large corporation says, "Our people are our most important asset," but they rarely achieve personal connections.
Hiring people with age and experience provides solid financial rewards resulting from less turnover, lower costs, and greater productivity. What comes with this effort is a great sense of pride that we employers feel by strengthening our country through creating proud and productive taxpayers.
