Success
We have many success stories of people we have hired who have changed or improved their lives. And there are many companies like our founder's manufacturing company who have generated similar successes. As a result, these companies have enjoyed reduced turnover, happier workplaces, reduced costs, and increased profits. Not to mention these companies feel good about providing opportunities to deserving people, and about improving the productivity of our nation. We are now collecting these success stories for publication, and we look forward to hearing yours.
Our success began with Larry Keast, who started Venturetech Corporation in his garage in 1980, becoming a nice story of American entrepreneurship and independence. Venturetech manufactures hydraulic drilling machinery for customers worldwide, and the employees include machinists, welders, mechanics, engineers, draftsmen, managers, and office staff.
Years ago, before Larry adopted this new hiring approach, he was like most other small business owners. A business owner friend would ask, "How's your business going?" and he would answer, "Well, it would be great if it wasn't for the people." Then he could easily launch into an entertaining tale of the most irresponsible or illegal act which had occurred recently.
Since then, things have changed so much that he loves to share stories about the good things our employees have done - for themselves and for the company. What a difference! Now the Venturetech motto is, "We build good equipment and good people!"
"We're not saying this happened easily, or quickly, or without problems, but we are saying that the results have made it overwhelmingly worthwhile. A big key to the initial success was hiring a manager who had been clean and sober for 7 years and had been a drug counselor for four years. His ability to hire, train, and motivate people was indispensable because he really understood. So we began with people in recovery, then added other folks in need of a second chance."
We look forward to posting your success story alongside Larry's to help give hope and inspiration to other people and companies who are making a difference!
